After helping complete the last Zooniverse project, Star Notes, I decided to begin another – WWII Army Separation Notices. While quite a departure from astronomy to history, it’s still an interest near and dear to my heart. As many of you know, I began researching my father’s WWII history approximately twenty years ago. What began as a simple two-page website, in 2004, blossomed into one of the largest (if not the largest) Army Engineer sites in the world. Thus, when I spotted information regarding separation notices, I couldn’t pass it by. It’s just another way of giving back to the community, and in essence helping the many individuals and organizations that assisted me when I began my ardent task years ago.
P.S. I’m currently revamping my entire WWII site, making it more user and mobile-friendly. My goal is to convert it to WordPress and share it with the world by the end of 2024. It’s a lofty goal, but it’s another labor of love for me.
