Do people honestly believe this crap?
Sometimes (well more often than not) I get the biggest kick out of people and the things they believe. Sadly, I’ve come to realize that too many people actually subscribe to this er, stuff! Meaning, if you have a certain trait, you are THIS way, or act in certain fashion.
Case in point: While scrolling through my Facebook page I saw a post regarding BLUE EYES. If you have blue eyes, then you are a warm and loving person and blah, blah, blah. Oh really? I mean, truthfully? Hmmm, so now EVERY SINGLE person with blue eyes acts the same way, like we are all cut out of a single template? Normally I scroll as quickly as possible past this nonsense, but I just had to post a reply to this one. Hmmm, I stated, well, how about HITLER? He had blue eyes! Uh-oh!!!!
Let’s look at this scientifically, okay? For the sake of simplicity, I will only list the four most common eye colors: Brown, Hazel, Blue and Green. Now let’s examine the current world’s population – approximately 7.6 billion residents. So you’re telling me that if we divide the entire population of Earth into four groups, that everyone within these groups has the same characteristics? Think about this folks. Doesn’t that set off any red flags? Well, it should.
Let’s examine this under a different light. Say you live on a block, consisting of thirty houses. And let’s pretend that within these houses live thirty-two people with blue eyes. And let’s say that you have blue eyes. Do every one of your neighbors with your same eye color behave just like you? I sincerely doubt it.
You can take the above and apply it to anything else that lumps people into homogeneous groups. Does everyone born on the same date act similarly and have the same fate? Does every “only child” act like every other “only child”? Do all blondes act the same? I could go on ad nauseum, but hopefully by now you have grasped my point. And if you don’t, please drop me a note and let me know if you have long eyelashes, because maybe we can establish a link…
