Discovering BTS – A Non-linear Journey

Last week while I was chatting in a DM on Twitter, my friend Lynn suggested that I write a book about BTS. Hmmm, sounded like a good idea, and after thinking about it for a few days, I decided to put pen to paper. 

The book will center on my personal journey, from discovering BTS in October of 2019 (see my blog “HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY – I LOVE BTS!”), to all the subsequent roads I’ve travelled since, all thanks to a group of seven exceptional men. I will also include excerpts from ARMY around the world. I will accomplish this by creating a website and asking ARMY to share their thoughts and feelings. Special focus will lie with ARMY, 30 and over, an ever-growing segment of BTS’s fandom. While not possible to include all the submissions in the book, I will feature all contributions on the site (you can remain anonymous if you wish).

So what’s up with the title? It simply means that while we may start down one path in life, your journey is never linear, and you’ll often stumble upon roads with numerous open doors and unexpected adventures. That was my experience when I fell in love with BTS. Not only did their music expand my horizons, but I also met many wonderful people and in turn established treasured friendships, learned more about Korean culture, food, and customs, and was inspired to play my guitar and bass again. I’m also learning how to read and speak Korean. All this stemmed from listening to a few videos on YouTube, one afternoon with my granddaughter. It just goes to show, you never know where life will lead you.
