A new experience

Hmmm, how do I begin? Just a few minutes ago I was lying in bed, and when I closed my eyes, I saw a video of a woman interacting with a green parrot. It lasted several seconds, then appeared to replay. It’s not the first time it’s happened.

My first recollection of this type of thing occurring, (whether it be a clear image or an actual video), was a few months ago. I remember sitting on the couch, closing my eyes, and seeing an image with vivid clarity. It got my attention, and I thought, whoa, such detail, like viewing an actual photo of a face. It lasted for several seconds. Mind you, it had nothing to do with what I was reading or watching. It left me feeling deeply impressed.

Since that initial experience, it’s happened several more times, and each time I’m blown away that my brain can project this. Why is this suddenly occurring? What causes this? Do other people have these experiences? How does the brain do this? I’m fascinated by it and want to know more. So, when it happened just a few minutes ago, I knew I had to share it with you. Does anyone out there have similar experiences or know someone who does?

Before I began this post, I typed “see a video when I close my eyes” in the internet search bar and sure enough, others were talking about this, and asking the same questions. Mind you, my search was precursory, so I plan on doing more research into this subject. I’m certain that’s there’s a name for it and I want to read clinical papers to find the answers to my questions.

But back to the video I saw this morning… It was dimmed out (in muted tones/colors), but it was just like watching a video on YouTube, and it occurred in a small screen, like seeing a PIP (picture-in-picture on a modern TV). When I’ve seen other images and videos, they have the same qualities – sharp, lifelike, but always muted. Oh, I should add, there is no accompanying audio. This is strictly visual stimulus.

I’ll close by saying, these are positive experiences and I look forward to my next one.
