Ostrich lays an egg?

Imagine my surprise last night when I get a message from my besties (currently visiting Disney World in Florida), informing me that Tom witnessed an ostrich lay an egg outside of their hotel room. Say what? Now this in NOT your everyday occurrence.

Later a zookeeper came along and picked up the egg in order to incubate and supervise its progress. Now tell me, how cool is this?
