Draft 2 Draft Digital

If you self-publish, be aware that you now have multiple choices. No longer do you have to feel limited to use Amazon (KDP) Publishing. While I still use KDP for print and eBook, I also incorporate Ingram Spark and recently, Draft2Draft.
Never heard of Draft 2 Draft Digital? Here’s a few things that may interest you.
- Universal Links – They provide you with one simple link for each book you’ve published, so when someone clicks it, it shows a complete list of eBook and print books available at suppliers. Here’s an example, using my book, The Story of Q. As you can see by the image, it shows the places my books are currently available, making it easy for potential customers to choose from a wider variety of online stores.

- If you’ve already published your book through another distributor, you can still use Draft2Digital to expand your reach and simplify your project maintenance for all other digital stores. They don’t acquire rights or require any kind of exclusivity, so you can do whatever you want with your book.
- Draft2Digital supports payment splitting for collaborative projects, omnibus, or boxed sets! The collaboration organizer and all collaborators must have a Draft2Digital account, a payment method, and a completed tax interview to get paid.
- Draft2Digital has no up-front charges for any of their services. They make a percentage of each of your books’ sales, so they don’t get paid unless you get paid.
- Their fee is approximately 10% of the price you set for your book (list price). That means most of their stores take about 30%, Draft2Digital takes about 10%, and you keep about 60% of the list price of your eBook. For print books, you will make about 45% of the list price of your print book, minus the base printing cost. Each store has their own specific policies and taxes are specific to your location. They inform you fully on the page where you set your price. Draft2Digital shows estimated royalties on a store-by-store basis based on your list price. If you change your list price, these estimated royalties will live update to show you a best estimate of your take-home cut for each sale you might make at each specific store.
- Draft2Digital, empowers authors with their Promotions Tab, where you can set up scheduled price promotions and free promotions, edit your UBLs, see recent sales, and more.
- Books2Read, is their author promotions powerhouse, includes New Release Notifications, Universal Book Links (UBLs), B2R Author Pages, B2R Book Tabs, and new, upcoming tools.
- More personalized service than you’d get from Amazon or Ingram Spark.
Heads-up! If you sign up with Kindle Unlimited, it will limit other stores from listing/carrying your eBooks. In other words, you can’t do both. Recently, I took part in Kindle Unlimited for 90 days, so during this period, I was unable to list those books with multiple stores via Draft2Draft. Once the 90 days were up, then I could reapply for distribution with Kobo, etc. Note: Having your Ebooks on Amazon KDP is different than also enrolling those books with Kindle Unlimited, so, please don’t confuse the two. While there are pros and cons to Kindle Unlimited, in this case, I’m only touching on one aspect – distribution through other companies.
