Apollo 13 in detail

If you’re anything like me (space geek?), you can never get enough details about space and NASA’s missions to the moon, planets, and beyond. How many books have I read? How many documentaries have I seen? How many times have I seen Apollo 13, the movie? I lost track a long time ago. So, when my husband informed me that Amy dedicated two plus hours to Apollo 13, I knew this was right up my alley. “You’re gonna love it,” he declared. He was correct – the more details the better.

Even as a young child, I always wanted to know what made things “tick”. When dad bought me a Mr. Machine, I couldn’t wait to take him apart and put him back together. Lots of gears. What fun. Unfortunately, the later models couldn’t be taken apart. What a shame.

I haven’t changed. I still want to know how things work, and if something goes wrong, I want to know why. I’m not satisfied simply knowing that it was fixed. But now my toys are much bigger and more expensive. You see, I went into the world of tech, and my horizons broadened – setting up servers and systems for small businesses, teaching basic programming at night school, and repairing Windows computers, etc. I love to tinker. Always will. Give me a challenge.

So bring on the NASA speak – TLI’s, gimbal lock, trajectories, and mysterious switches, “Try SCE to Aux” (Apollo 12).
