Stupid is as stupid does
Some people will strongly object to the word and its implications. But hear me out. Stupid has nothing to do with IQ. It has nothing to do with the grades you received in school. Stupid refers to those who simply react to situations, never taking the time to stop and think. It refers to people who repeatedly make the same mistakes, once, twice, three times. They never seem to learn from their errors.
Stupid people blindly follow anyone or anything that suits their purpose. They never question the source. If someone said it – if someone shared it on social media, well then, it must be true. Logic flies out the door, er, well, if it ever existed in the first place.
Stupid people walk around with blinders. You can’t argue with them. You can’t carry on a discussion because, in their mind, there is only one side to the story, whether it makes sense or not. They aren’t willing to listen to another theory. They have no interest in ascertaining the truth. They only hear what they want.
Example
The other day, I watched a video about Ubuntu Linux (one of the many versions of Linux’s operating system). I left a comment for the creator, sharing my positive experience. Later, reading other comments, I ran across this: “Can’t take it seriously until they get rid of that left icon menu.”
My initial thought? You can’t be serious. Is this, of all things, your main complaint? However, from a techie/teacher’s perspective, I innocently replied, “It’s easy to move the taskbar…” Then a second mindless person whined, “But why should he have to?” Yup, making mountains out of molehills. Oh, brother, Marion, this isn’t worth your time. Walk away. Walk away. As they say, you can’t argue with an idiot. Ever wonder how “they” manage to get through a single morning?
I run across this all too often. I scratch my head nearly every day. Sometimes I’m ashamed to admit that I’m a member of the species homo sapiens.
