Do you want the work?

I’m not one who usually complains, as I’m a positive person, however, I feel the need to blow off some steam this weekend.

Mid way through the afternoon on Friday, our water began to slowly trickle from our faucets, and by 6 pm, we no longer had water. First off, let me explain that we live out in the country, and therefore rely on a well, and a pressure tank. No city water. So, when something happens to your water supply, you have to call a well company. Well, (forgive the pun or not!) we called right away, but unfortunately as of 6 pm on Saturday…

First, we called Webb, a company we’ve been with for over 15 years. Lee explained our problem to the secretary and told her that it was probably our pressure tank (we’d had problems before). She asked if we were customers, and he said yes. Okay, I’ll look you up, and then walk you through some solutions. Well after an hour, we got a call back saying, we can’t find you in our system. So, hubby said, look under the name, Alger Market, as we had used them when we owned our local mom and pop. Guess what, we never got a call back.

In the interim, we called M & R, a company we’ve used when Webb had been overly busy. According to my husband, the gentleman basically wanted Lee to check out the situation. Lee replied, “I’m getting too old to go into the crawl space”, to which he replied, “I am too!” Excuse me? Uh, then why are you still running a company. Hubby looked at me, shook his head in dismay, “Uh, let’s call someone else.” Sigh!

Finally, I called Miehl, a suggestion by our plumber and left a detailed message. It’s now eight hours later and you guessed it, no return call. Excuse my French, but WTF!?

Now, we realize it’s the weekend, but how about a return call, and maybe give us a timeframe. We could deal with that. We’re reasonable people. But to be left sitting in limbo. That’s unforgivable.

My husband finally visited the crawl space, and got the water running temporarily, but still looking for a solution. We decided we’re going to visit Home Depot this week, purchase a new pressure tank, and hopefully get Home Depot to install it.

Whatever happened to the work ethic? Don’t bother with a response, it’s a rhetorical question…

P.S. It’s been one of those days, because shortly after 4 pm, they issued a tornado warning for our area. When it rains, it pours. But as you can see, I’m still here.

  1. We’ve had problems with roofers in the past. No return calls or it wasn’t a full new roof needed so they didn’t want the job. Home Depot on the other hand was very good about not only selling a good product, new furnace and air conditioner, but their installer was timely and professional. Tom was impressed. Hope HD comes to your rescue as well!

  2. We usually have very good luck with our local Home Depot. I’m sure we’ll get this rectified.
