Capturing Winter

Capturing Winter

While many poo-poo the snow, I’ve learned love and appreciate it’s beauty. When it covers the ground, the Earth is shrouded in a special silence and the white turns the gray of February into a winter wonderland. It’s serenity.

This morning, I grabbed my new camera body, a Canon EOS RP. A full-framed mirrorless, and out I went into the cold, bundled up like a little kid. An hour later I ventured back into the house and began sorting through one-hundred and twenty-three shots, hoping that I’d get at least a dozen that I’d be proud to show.

And that’s part of the secret to being a great photographer is dumping that bad and the so-so and only showing your best. You know those images you see on magazine covers? The ones that draw your attention? Well, to get THAT SHOT, it may have taken dozens or hundreds of exposures to get just the right one.

Hope you enjoy these because they made me smile. It was a great way to begin my Sunday.
