Kiss From a Rose – one of the best pop songs ever written
I don’t think calling this pop is even the appropriate genre, but let’s not argue over semantics.
It’s a beautiful, lush, fulfilling melody and arrangement. In my estimation, it doesn’t get much better than this. How in the world this sprang from his brain in a few hours is quite beyond my imagination. It’s one of those songs that I wish I WROTE!
Sitting at my computer today, I was thrilled when I saw that Rick Beato dedicated an episode to it. Even though I’m feeling under the weather and slept away most of my Tuesday, it captivated my interest. I HAVE TO WATCH. And without repeating myself, this is what I wrote to Rick.
“Wow, Rick. This is one of my “island” songs. When I saw that you had wrapped an episode around it, I could hardly contain myself in my chair as I listened to each section and interlude. First off, how many pop songs are written in 3/4? That’s a damned good start. This song it at the top of its class. I believe it epitomizes everything a song should be. Every time I listen to this song it literally evokes something in me that I never felt before and leaves me on a high plateau. And after hearing each stem, it made me appreciate the song even more. Many times I’ve driven in my car and hit the repeat button hoping that it would never end. Can’t thank you enough for this, and what a nice touch to hear from Seal, himself. I hope he, and this epi will continue to inspire millions. This is what music is all about. Merci!”
Please watch. Worth your while and if it doesn’t put a smile on your face…
