Ting? What’s Ting?
Upon reading the latest issue of Consumer Reports, dated January/February 2025, I ran across an interesting article, Save $500 on Cell Phone Service This Year. So, today I checked out the possibilities online and decided to do business with Ting.
As you can see in the chart above, it shows carriers that are compatible with the big three, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. Since we are Verizon customers, our system is compatible with, Credo Mobile, Lively, Spectrum Mobile, Straight Talk, Ting, Total Wireless, TracFone, and Visible. From there I looked at their comparison chart that refers to their recommendations. This is how I chose Ting as our new provider.
Next, I visited Ting’s website, which was a breeze to use. Straight forward, no hassle, nothing annoying to get in the way of what I wanted, which was to compare plans within their network.
First, I checked each of our phones for compatibility. Selecting a plan for both of us was simple, because our current plan with Verizon, offers 2 GBs of data. And we don’t even come close to using our allotment. Ting’s first level gives us 5GBs for $25.00 each, bringing our new phone bill to $50.00. That cuts our bill in half, so yes, we’re saving $600.00 per year. That’s nothing to scoff at. So, we get unlimited talk and text, Nationwide LTE + 5G coverage and ALL 5 GB can be used as hotspot.
Secondly, I sent away for Sim cards for both of our phones, which will be shipped free in two days.
So, now we wait, and of course I will share my thoughts after we try out our new provider. Sounds like a great way to start off the New Year, but time will tell.
